FHP Health Center, TakeCare participated in the Government of Guam’s Worksite Wellness Event

The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) relaunched the annual Government of Guam Worksite Wellness Program (WWP) Recommitment Event on January 31, 2025, at the University of Guam Calvo Field House. This event, which had been suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic, brought together government employees to reaffirm their dedication to maintaining good health and well-being.

The Worksite Wellness Program, established in 2012 through Executive Order 2012-07, permits employees to engage in wellness activities for up to one hour daily, three times a week, with the approval of their supervisors. The recommitment event showcased a variety of health screenings, fitness activities including Zumba, basketball, volleyball, and TaTuHa Hula Fitness, and participation from local gyms, health spas, and wellness organizations.

DPHSS Director Theresa C. Arriola emphasized the government’s responsibility to lead by example in workplace wellness, highlighting its role as the largest employer on the island. By demonstrating the benefits of prioritizing employee health, the government aims to inspire private employers to implement similar programs. Investing in wellness not only benefits employees but also strengthens productivity, reduces healthcare costs, and contributes to a healthier and more resilient Guam.

TakeCare and the FHP Health Center are dedicated to ensuring the continued success and health of its members and patients, recognizing that a healthier workforce leads to a stronger and more productive island community.
