Agustin, Yamamoto join FHP Health Center

Michael Agustin, M.D., FCCP FAPSR, and Michele Therese L. Yamamoto, M.D., recently joined the FHP Health Center.

Agustin holds board certifications in Pulmonary Medicine Critical Care and Internal Medicine by the American board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). He graduated with cum laude honors from Saint Louis University Philippines, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, Philippines. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at the Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island Alpert School of Medicine Brown University and was awarded Intern of the Year 2011 and Resident of the Year 2013. His specialized training includes a Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship Program at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts.

He joined Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) after his fellowship in 2016. He served as the Chairman of the Department of Medicine for GRMC, Section Head of Pulmonary Medicine, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Director and head of the Ethics Committee before being the interim Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at GRMC.

He then focused on establishing the Lung Center for Guam and co-founded GLID Center, Guam. He is the first recipient of GRMC’s Physician of the Year award 2021.

He is an active member of professional societies such as the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP), American Thoracic Society (ATS), Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), American College of Physicians (ACP), Asia Pacific Society of Respirology (APSR) and Society of Advanced Bronchoscopy (SAB) among others. He holds licenses to practice medicine in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Guam and the Philippines. He also holds affiliations with the Philippine Medical Association (PMA) as well as the Makati Medical Society (MkMS).

Agustin will also join the Makati Life Medical Center in Makati, Philippines, where he will establish a satellite pulmonary clinic for Guam patients by Fall 2024.

Dr. Michele Therese L. Yamamoto is a board certified Infectious Disease and Internal Medicine physician by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

She graduated with cum laude honors from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) College of Science and continued to complete Doctor of Medicine degree from UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery with cum laude honors as well. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at the Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island Alpert School of Medicine Brown University and was awarded Intern of the Year 2012 and the Elise Coletta Award for Teaching Year 2014.

Her specialized training includes an Infectious Diseases and Immunology Fellowship from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, Massachusetts.

She joined GRMC in 2016 after her fellowship and has been the Section Head of Infectious Disease. She holds administrative roles as the head of Infection Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship.

Together with Agustin, Yamamoto co-founded GLID, Guam, and together they have published multiple case reports and presented cases to international conferences. She was GRMC’s Physician of the Year 2022.

Active in various professional societies, Yamamoto is a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA), American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) and American College of Physicians (ACP). She holds license to practice medicine in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Guam and the Philippines. She also hold affiliations with the Philippine Medical Association (PMA) as well as the Makati Medical Society (MkMS).

Yamamoto will also open a satellite Infectious Disease clinic for Guam and the Micronesia patient at the Makati Life Medical Center, Philippines.
