FHP Health Center announces the re-accreditation of its MRI scanner by the American College of Radiology until May 2026.
This accreditation:
- It complies with the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) which states that for all providers of CT, MRI, breast MRI, nuclear medicine, and PET exams that bill under Part B of the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule to be accredited by Jan. 1, 2012, in order to receive payment for the technical component of these services.
- It validates the qualifications of the professional staff - radiologist and technologist, and
- It certifies the quality of images FHP’s MRI scanner.
“An important aspect of the ACR accreditation regarding image quality is when you see the ACR gold seal, you can rest assured that your prescribed imaging test will be done at a facility that has met the highest level of imaging quality and radiation safety,” said Gerry Patricio, BS, RDMS, RVT, senior business manager at the FHP Health Center.
“I thank Dr. Andrew Graves for his leadership and Jesse Rechelluul, radiology technician, for his efforts starting this process last year,” said Patricio. “I also thank the radiology team, GIO, Facilities, JMI Edison, and Gamma Corporation for their valuable contributions.”
Since 2013, FHP Health Center has spent $4 million to upgrade diagnostic equipment including the digital mammogram, 3.0 Tesla MRI, ultrasound, digital x-ray, and CT scanner.
